New Song from My Musical: “Maximized”

Tuesday, July 3rd, 2012

I’m excited to share one of the songs that will be appearing in the first episode of my upcoming animated musical, Steve’s Quest.

This song, “Maximized,” is sung mainly by programmers at NextComm, the software company where Steve, our hero, reluctantly works.  The programmers, ably played by Gina Breedlove and Tim Edgar, extol the virtues of checking e-mail, owning great iPhone apps, and never losing their code because it’s all on the LAN.

In the bridge section of the song, Steve (played by yours truly) arrives at work, late as usual, and expresses his disbelief about how his coworkers can actually enjoy doing their jobs.

You can listen to the song by watching the video below, which also includes a montage of the electrifying concept art produced by our crack team thus far:

If you enjoy this song, I’d appreciate a Like on the YouTube video.  Also, you can subscribe to the show’s Facebook page for up-to-the-minute Steve’s Quest updates and bonus materials.

This is great Chris and I like the boards and montage of characters very much. Maximized is great and high energy….I had a bit of a problem with the words right before the bridge.

How do I like it on YOU Tube?

  2. Chris Says:

Hi Patricia — thanks for the appreciation. I’ve heard from a few other people that the vocals are a little low in the mix, so I will work on that.

Geez, Geddy Lee and that guy from Foreigner — move over, Chris Edgar is SO in the house!!

Your vocals are so amazing, loved how I really got to hear you as the hard-driving mix faded away in the bridge.

Just a matter of boosting the dbs on the vocal when the full band is behind you, to hear all the words, that is.

These graphics are uber-cool. I like the cool work room scene — perfect stage scene, I think.

Oh, and there will be plenty of DANCING in this musical, right, I mean when it hits Broadway with real people on the stage? I see a lot of leaping, level changes in blocking, and rock hands (kinda like jazz hands but with more Kiss & AC/DC, and just a suble hint or two of ZZ Top.)

Really, Chris? I had no idea your talent is this wide and deep. Crack art team in many ways, indeed. Yay. And I know you!!

    xo

Hi Jannie — wow, that guy from Foreigner (Lou Gramm) — that is an incredible comparison. He is an ’80s rock virtuoso equaled in my opinion only by maybe Daryl Hall. Thanks for the feedback on the mix — I’ve heard that from a few other people now, and I am going to make some adjustments.

It’s funny, my mother is also very excited about how there is going to be choreography in the stage production. All I can say is: I’m no Alvin Ailey, but I know there’s going to be some jumping on top of cubicles going on, if the insurance will cover it.

Excellent Chris. This is quite a project! The more I learn about “Steves Quest” the more I appreciate the breadth and scope of your vision. I always love seeing people wonderfully obsessed with life. The Zombie reference in the song is completely apropos.

  6. Chris Says:

Thanks Rob! It’s gratifying to me that you get what I’m trying to achieve with this show.

  7. Sara Says:

This is so exciting to see how far you’ve come with this musical. I enjoyed this song and did click on the “like” button.

I get so excited about how you’ve taken this idea from its airplane-ride conception to where it is now. Kuddos to you. Keep me informed.

Oh, I love the art, too.

  8. Kimbundance Says:

Yet another well done post! Kudos for staying focused in your music.

  9. Chris Says:

Hi Sara — glad you enjoyed the song. The “ride” continues! My expectation right now, by the way, is that the first episode will come out in September.

  10. Chris Says:

Hi Kim — thanks — there’s a whole lot more where this came from!
